# How to Remove Unauthorized Sellers from Amazon Listings

> A step-by-step process brands use to identify, document, and remove unauthorized Amazon resellers - and when to escalate to Transparency.

**To remove unauthorized sellers from your Amazon listings, brands generally follow an escalating process: identify and document violators, send cease and desist notices, verify authenticity through test buys, and enroll in Amazon Transparency for persistent cases.** Here is how each step works.

## 1. Identify and Document

Monitor your ASINs for third-party sellers you have not authorized. For each violator, record the storefront name, ASINs affected, prices offered (especially MAP violations), and dated screenshots. Consistent documentation is what makes later enforcement steps credible. Manual monitoring works for a handful of ASINs; at catalog scale, brands typically use automated monitoring - OBG's [360 Brand Protection™](/services/360-brand-protection) scans listings 24/7.

## 2. Send Cease and Desist Notices

A well-constructed cease and desist notice - citing your distribution policy, trademark rights, and the documented violations - removes many violators on its own. Speed matters: the faster the notice follows the violation, the more effective it tends to be.

## 3. Perform Authenticity Test Buys

For sellers who don't back down, controlled test buys establish whether their inventory is authentic, and document condition issues (expired, damaged, repackaged, or counterfeit goods). Test-buy evidence strengthens reports to Amazon and any legal follow-up.

## 4. Escalate to Amazon Transparency

Amazon's Transparency program applies unit-level serialization to your products, so Amazon verifies each unit's authenticity before it ships. Enrollment is the strongest lasting control for brands with persistent unauthorized-seller problems.

## Why Unauthorized Sellers Matter

They hijack your Buy Box, undercut MAP (angering retail partners - see [MAP Enforcement](/guides/map-enforcement)), create duplicate listings, and ship poor-condition goods that generate bad reviews under your brand name.

## Doing This at Scale

The process above is manual and time-consuming across a real catalog. OBG's [360 Brand Protection™](/services/360-brand-protection) automates it end to end - and is offered at no cost to OBG brand partners.
